At a moment when Mexican fashion continues to expand its international conversation, Dan Cassab has distinguished itself through its disruptive style and architectural aesthetic. Its pieces, developed mostly in leather and defined by rigorous technique, do not seek to interrupt the look, but to define it.

After discovering the brand’s universe during the 22nd edition of Zona Maco, Daniela Cassab, designer and founder of the eponymous label, speaks exclusively with Topics That Transform about building a distinct identity, the power of structure, and what it means today to create luxury from Mexico.

The Origin of Dan Cassab

The story of Dan Cassab began in 2016 with a specific piece: a deeply structured leather jacket. When she saw it finished, Daniela Cassab understood that the DNA of her brand was already there.

It was strong, clean, direct,” she recalls. “It wasn’t trying to please; it was making a statement.” At that moment she realized that the language of the brand would not be built from ornament, but from structure.

Today, the designer, originally from Mexico City, summarizes that identity in three key concepts: precision, contained strength, and presence. Ideas that not only define her aesthetic but also the way she understands power within design. “For me, structure is not just a visual resource,” she explains. “It is a boundary. And boundaries are strength. Not all power is loud. Sometimes it is silent, internal, deeply personal.”

 Leather as Language

Dan Cassab’s international recognition is not only defined by its identity and language. The brand has also positioned itself through its work with leather, the label’s central material. Working with it was not a premeditated strategy, but an almost instinctive connection. “Leather found me more than I found it,” Cassab explains. “It is a material that is honest, firm, and does not allow hesitation.”

It is that honesty that defines the way Cassab designs, because working with leather requires accepting one clear rule: there is no margin for error. “Once you cut leather, there is no going back. I like that clarity, that responsibility. Designing this way is an act of constant decision.”

Disruption as Coherence

Perhaps what most distinguishes the Mexican label is its disruptive character: in its garments, in its language, and of course in the vision of its founder. In an industry where novelty often dictates the rhythm, Dan Cassab operates differently.

I’m not interested in chasing novelty. I’m interested in building permanence,” she explains. Under that logic, the brand commits to remaining faithful to its identity.

Being coherent,” she says when asked what it means to be truly disruptive today. “In an industry that constantly changes, staying true to a vision is almost rebellious.”

The Dan Cassab Woman

In the world of Dan Cassab, garments are not only constructed through structure. The key lies in the emotion they evoke in the person wearing them. “Structure is the tool. But emotion is the goal,” Cassab explains. Her intention is for the woman wearing them to feel centered, grounded, and supported; to enter a space without needing to explain herself.

That clarity defines the Dan Cassab woman. The brand is not trying to speak to everyone or follow trends. What it seeks goes beyond that: “I’m interested in connecting deeply, not massively. The Dan Cassab woman understands the language of the brand without needing it to be translated.”

Design Made in Mexico

For a long time, Mexican fashion was interpreted through folklore. For Cassab, that concept falls short. “Mexico is sophistication,” she states.

In her vision, Mexican design also speaks through restraint, structure, and a silent elegance that does not need explanation. A design that today, more than ever, reflects the evolution of fashion in the country.

Dan Cassab is a declaration of maturity. Of a Mexico that does not need to exaggerate its identity to affirm it. One that can be sober, technical, precise… and still have soul.”

Epilogue

For Cassab, the conversation around Mexican luxury fashion still needs to deepen. “There is a lot of talk about creativity, identity, and national pride, which are important, but little about discipline, long-term construction, and international technical standards without losing roots,” she explains.

Creating luxury in Mexico is not about aspiring to Europe; it is about elevating our own codes with rigor and vision.”

Perhaps that is why Dan Cassab captures attention from the very first moment. Because its identity, language, and energy speak of something greater than a brand: a Mexico that is redefining the standard.
