Time as Legacy: Panerai and Casa Huakal Celebrate the Value of Handcrafted Traditions

Some collaborations feel inevitable from the very beginning, and the partnership between Panerai and Casa Huakal is one of them.

In an era defined by speed and immediacy, certain disciplines continue to remind us that the things that endure require time. Born from a shared vision between two brands that celebrate craftsmanship, this collaboration brought together women passionate about design, creativity, and fine watchmaking to reflect on what is built slowly: legacy, craftsmanship, and the traditions that survive because people choose to preserve them.

 Where Time Finds Meaning

It’s no secret that we are surrounded by objects designed for immediate consumption. Trends that last only weeks, technologies that become outdated within months, and a culture that constantly pushes us toward what comes next. Yet when it comes to building a legacy, there are disciplines that continue to remind us that some things simply cannot be rushed. Craftsmanship and fine watchmaking are among them.

It is this shared perspective that gave rise to the first collaboration between Panerai and Casa Huakal, a space dedicated to promoting contemporary Mexican design and preserving artisanal traditions through a curatorial vision centered on identity, heritage, and collective creation.

For Panerai, the connection feels natural. Since its founding in Florence in 1860, the Maison has built its identity around precision, functionality, and the transmission of knowledge, values that also resonate deeply with the artisanal work championed and preserved by Casa Huakal. Beyond watchmaking, both share the same belief: anything worth preserving requires time, dedication, and a commitment to passing it on to future generations.

Panerai and Casa Huakal: A Meeting of Precision and Craftsmanship

By placing time, heritage, and craftsmanship at the center of the conversation, the collaboration served as a reminder that some of the most valuable things are not built through speed, but through patience and knowledge.

Through an immersive experience, the precision of fine watchmaking found a natural dialogue with the artisanal universe that Casa Huakal has championed for years. During the sessions, guests were invited to engage with the world of Panerai from an unusual perspective, participating in the assembly of its P3000 caliber and discovering firsthand the level of precision, dedication, and attention to detail behind every mechanism.

Beyond the finished result, the experience offered a glimpse into what often goes unnoticed: the hands, techniques, and stories that make each piece possible.

Kalimori and Berger Joyeros: Beyond the Experience

Although the experience was centered on watchmaking, the conversation did not end there. As part of the initiative, Casa Huakal also brought Kalimori into the project, an organization that works alongside Mexican artisans to preserve traditional techniques and create sustainable opportunities through the design and commercialization of handmade pieces.

From this shared vision emerged another important component of the partnership. Together with Berger Joyeros — Panerai’s retail partner in Mexico — the Maison will allocate 10% of all sales generated during the masterclasses to Kalimori, helping strengthen projects focused on preserving artisanal work.

Perhaps that is what makes this initiative most compelling: it also opens a conversation about the role brands can play in cultural preservation. Because preserving a craft is not only about protecting a technique; it is also about creating the conditions that allow those who practice it to continue passing it on.

  Epilogue

In an era that often celebrates speed, collaborations like the one between Panerai and Casa Huakal remind us of the value of the disciplines we often take for granted. The ones that require time to master, generations to pass down, and a community committed to preserving them.

Because in both watchmaking and craftsmanship, the true value lies not only in the finished piece, but in everything that exists behind it.
